Event Ticket Buying Tips

Regular Delivery, Overnight, Same Day and Electronic Event Tickets

How are concert and event tickets delivered? Most of the time the are delivered via FedEx. I asked a client why they only used FedEx and was basically just told because. So, I'm not sure. But I'm guessing they must be easy to deal with, and are reliable. I honestly don't know or care. Delivery costs are all about the same.

The main thing for the buyer of the tickets to know is that you are required to sign for the tickets. I know they are just delivering paper. But that paper is worth a lot of money. If anything happens to the concert tickets during the delivery, let us just say it would be bad. So, the delivery is insured which requires a signature.

This can be a problem. FedEx delivers mostly during business hours, when you are most likely at work. Personally, I just call the ticket delivery company and go pick it up at the hub. UPS, FedEx, etc., usually has a hub where you can pick up your tickets. Just bring the little notice they leave on the door, and some identification. Remember, these tickets could be worth hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Even though it may be a pain, it is for your security as well.

A legitimate business always wants to make as many ticket sales as possible. But it is not worth the pain of one fraudulent order to skip the security process for the online ticket seller.

Concert or event tickets are delivered to the address on the credit card you use to place the order. Whenever my order is confirmed I get a PIN number and a tracking number for fedex. Ticket Tracker will allow you to see the progress of your order. Just login and it will give you all the information you need about your concert or nfl tickets, etc.

If you need to buy tickets for an event that is that day, that is usually fine. Of course the tickets can not be shipped but the event ticket seller will make arrangements to deliver the tickets in or around the event center.
NOTE: This is different than buying the tickets from someone who is just selling tickets outside the event center. That is ticket scalping and is illegal in most jurisdictions. The will call or pick up arrangements can only be arranged after the transaction from a legitimate online broker is completed.

Some companies, such as Stubhub will not allow you to sell or buy for same day events, under certain conditions. So make sure that the site does have a same day delivery policy.

The good and bad news is, if it's not possible to make the event ticket delivery you will not be charged. But of course you will not have tickets. So as I always suggest, try to buy from the box office, or at least two weeks before the event to allow time for any issues that may arise.

If you order same day tickets, or are traveling to the event, you will get an email. That email will have all the sellers information. Call the ticket seller. Let them know right away that you will be picking up the tickets. Once you order you will get an email with all the ticket sellers contact information.

So what if you don't have time for Fedex. Say for a same day event, or if you are traveling to the event before the tickets will arrive at your home. In that case usually a will call, the seller will leave the tickets for you at the box office for you to pick up when you arrive. The seller may also arrange to meet you at their office or home, near the event center, or someplace local to make the transaction.

If you can not pick up the tickets, or be at the address on the credit card, you have another option. You will need to send the seller a copy, via fax or email, of a photo ID and the credit card you made the concert ticket purchase with. This is a requirement of the delivery company usually. If you follow the guidelines here. You have nothing to worry about. Once again this is to protect the buyer, seller, delivery and credit card company from fraudulent orders.

My main points are, can you get tickets on short notice? Yes. Please make sure your are dealing with a reputable event ticket seller. Can it be a pain? Yes. If you are trying to buy tickets for a concert or broadway show they want to sell the tickets. But if you are calling the ticket seller on a Sunday morning, you have to expect less service than on a normal business day.

For same day events, call and make contact with the seller. For events within 2-3 days select overnight delivery an call the seller. If you are traveling to the event, plan appropriately.

I know of a list of sites that do same day, and weekend sales. Leave a comment and I'll send you a list of ticket sellers that I know can deliver on weekends and same day events.
